Lynda.com Raises $103 Million of Funding

Carpinteria, California – Lynda.com, the pioneer and leader in online education offering classes on software, creative, and business skills to achieve personal and professional goals has raised $103 million in funding from Accel Partners, Spectrum Equity and Meritech Capital Partners.
“We’re fortunate that our financial performance and profitability over the years has enabled us to reinvest in the ongoing growth of the company,” said Eric Robison, president and CEO of lynda.com. “Our decision to accept outside funding will support lynda.com as we expand internationally. It will also add value to our membership with broadened content areas and accelerated scaling of our Web and video platform.”
Lynda.com is self funded since its inception 17 years ago and this is the first time that the company accepted an outside funding. The huge funding will be used to expand internationally and offer new courses that will also be available in non-English language.
