Vizu received $2.9 Million lead by Draper Fisher Jurvetson.
Vizu offers a do it yourself research network offering polling and primary research by making it easy and fast for those wanting information while creating an entirely new way to monetize web page views for publishers.
According to their press release “(w)ith this additional funding, Vizu will invest in marketing and development to maximize the service’s benefits for both the researchers and publishers, just as advertising networks in the ’90s disrupted the traditional advertising model, we are shaking up the world of market research.”
Vizu connects what they call clients and publishers. The model is that of an advertising network. Publishers place polling code on their webpages, much like a traditional advertising network would place banner code on a webpage. Polls are then targeted to this polling code and answers collected. Polls are created by the clients and targeted to the desired audience appropriately.
Vizu collects the information. Clients pay for the research and Vizu shares revenue with the publishers. This network offers another form of revenue for publishers.
Whether publishers will desire this additional code and service placed on their site remains to be seen. Two positives for Vizu is that the poll does not take the visitor away from the publishers site and the publisher also benefits from the initial poll which Vizu places to determine the demographics of your audience.
