Washington, D.C. – LivingSocial, the social commerce leader behind LivingSocial Deals, a group buying program that invites people and their friends to save up to 90 percent each day has raised big venture capital deal amounting to $400 Million of Series D Funding from Amazon, LightSpeed Venture partners and Institutional Venture Partner.
LivingSocial is currently the 2nd player in the rapidly expanding market for online discounts. The funding will be used basically to overtake the no. 1 spot which is Groupon.
“The investment is certainly a milestone in the company’s evolution,” said Mr. O’Shaughnessy, who declined to talk specifically about the valuation. “But it’s just that — a milestone, not the end game.”
