EdSurge Raises $400 K of Seed Funding

EdSurge, a news organization dedicated to accelerating the adoption of innovation in education has raised $400 k of seed funding from not the usual venture capital firms rather from non-profit organization, print giant corporation and from executives turned angel investors.
The funding came from The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Washington Post, Allen & Company and angel investors including O’Reilly Media exec Dale Dougherty, and Judy Estrin.
“We believe that great journalism has a big role to play in spurring companies to build the best products,” says Washington Post Chairman Don Graham.
