Amsterdam, Netherlands – Elasticsearch, an innovative and open source big data search engine start-up has raised $10 million of series A funding from Benchmark Capital. The first round funding was also backed by Rod Johnson, the programmer and brain child of spring framework and from the non-profit seed-stage VC firm Data Collective.

The new capital will be utilized on the development of the search engine and also in expanding its geographic reach.
