Howcast Received $8 Million for Instructional How-To Videos

Howcast raised $8 Million in Series A funding from Tudor Investment Corporation.

What does Howcast do?

Howcast allows consumers to watch and share instructional how-to videos created by filmmakers.

VCU says:

While you may be thinking, here comes another video site and yet another niche instructional site, you may be surprised. What differentiates Howcast from other sites is their idea of blending user generated content with professional content.

Users do not upload their own user generated videos, however they participate by suggesting instructional videos they would like to see. A group of approved filmmakers may then create the video that was suggested by a user and provide it on the site.

This model creates videos that may be more appealing to consumers, as well as advertisers and distribution partners.

Take a look at Howcast.
