Why is Meebo so happy?

Hmmm, maybe due to a recent infusion of $9 Million dollars?

What is Meebo?

Meebo is a website for instant messaging from absolutely anywhere.

Who Invested?

This second round was funded by Draper Fisher Jurvetson (DFJ), along with Sequoia (who funded their first round).

What will they use this funding for?

We assume to continue to build their business.

VCU says:

As of the writing of this post they have surpassed 1 million members.

You can join on their home page and then login, or login with an ID from another client such as AIM, Yahoo!, MSN, or Google Talk. Once you log in you can have it save your IM client logins and it logs you into all of them automatically.

What an excellent single source to connect with all the IM clients without having to open them all.

Also, check out meebome which is a chat widget you can drop onto any webpage so visitors of that page can chat with you as long as you have your meebo running. The widget is fully customizable, check it out here.

Brian Heater of reviewed them and they were honored with the site of the week the first week of January 2007, see the article here.
