Thumbplay Received $18 Million for their Mobile Content Service

Thumbplay received $18 Million in Series E funding from Brookside Capital Partners and Cross Creek Capital. Thumbplay received $17 Million series D in mid-2007 and $15 Million Series C in October 2006.

What does Thumbplay do?

Thumbplay provides mobile entertainment content. The company aggregates, promotes and delivers mobile content directly to their members.

VCU says:

Thumbplay operates a consumer focused site where you can obtain ringtones, wallpapers, games, graphics and videos.

Their business model is a monthly subscription based model in which they charge the end user via their cellular phone bill.
