Tudou Received $57 Million for a Chinese Video Sharing Site

Tudou received $57 Million in series D funding from IDG Technology Venture Investment, Granite Global Ventures, General Catalyst Partners, Capital today, Jafco Asia, KTB Ventures and JAIC, bringing their total to $85 Million.

What does Tudou do?

Tudou is a Chinese video sharing site.

VCU says:

Tudou.com (Chinese: 土豆网) is the largest video sharing platform in China. Much like YouTube, users can upload, view and share video clips.

Tudou went live on April 15, 2005 and now serves over 55 million videos each day. More than 40,000 new videos are uploaded each day. Mid 2007 Nielsen/NetRatings reported that Tudou was one of the world`s fastest growing websites growing from 131 to 360 million clips viewed per week in just three months.

They have negotiated an interesting deal where the “Best of Tudou” is being broadcast on two of China’s national satellite TV channels.

They generate revenue from online advertisements on the page and in the video. Clients have included Adidas, Ford, KFC, Lenovo, Motorola, Nike, Pepsi, Samsung, and Sony.
