FireEye Received $14.5 Million for their Anti-Botnet Protection

FireEye received $14.5 Million in series C funding from DAG Ventures, Juniper Networks, JAFCO Ventures, SVB Capital, Norwest Venture Partners and Sequoia Capital. In total they have received $34.5 Million.

What does FireEye do?

FireEye provides solutions for botnet-related cybercrime.

VCU says:

Botnets are groups of infected and remotely controlled computers, or bots, which are employed by cyber criminals to exploit consumers and businesses for profit. FireEye provides a solution for botnet crimes.

By coordinating hundreds of thousands of infected PCs into a highly efficient botnet, cyber criminals can execute a wide range of malicious attacks from denial-of-service (DoS) extortion and consumer identity theft to phishing schemes and government espionage.

The increase in user-generated Web content and the popularity of Web 2.0 applications in the enterprise such as Web-based e-mail, social networking and SaaS CRM provide botnet hackers with new vectors for infiltration.

FireEye provides preventative measures using their solution to stop botnet infections. The FireEye Botwall appliances analyze enterprise networks for bot activities and compromised machines. The FireEye Botwall Network is a globally deployed botnet discovery and analysis service which provides subscribers with the most current botnet intelligence.
