Outside.in Received $3 Million for their Localized Neighborhood News Site

Outside.in received $3 Million from New York City Investment Fund, Union Square Ventures, Milestone Venture Partners, Betaworks and individual investors. Previously Outside.in Received $1.5 Million in October 2007.

What does Outside.in do?

Outside.in tracks and provides localized news from towns and neighborhoods.

As of the writing of this article Outside.in states they track news, views, and conversations in 11,860 towns and neighborhoods.

Outside.in is interesting, almost a dynamically generated local paper online. They call it “the best way to discover the people, places, and conversations in your community.”

You enter your city, neighborhood, or zip code and start exploring your community. I entered my zip code and immediately received stories from my town, incredible as it looked just like the local weekly paper that is thrown on my driveway each week. I would gladly let them save their paper and simply visit this site when I want local stories.
