Groove Mobile Receives $6 Million for Mobile Music Service
September 7, 2007

Groove Mobile raised $6 million from ORIX Venture Finance

What does Groove Mobile do?

Groove Mobile is a mobile music service.

VCU says:

Groove Mobile was founded in 2004 and allows consumers to download music directly onto their mobile phones. Mobile phones may increasingly become an alternative to carrying an MP3 player, obviously the iPhone plays music well and my new blackberry surprised me with a media player and the ease of moving songs to my phone and listening to them was fantastic.

Groove caters to both the carriers, currently serving twelve of them on three continents, and directly to the consumer.

According to their press release they sold 400,000 audio singles in its first year alone and in July of this year, 2007, enabled nearly three million downloads in a single month.

Groove Mobile was previously funded by Egan Capital, Charles River Ventures, Kodiak Venture Partners, and Star Ventures.
