GetJar received $6 Million from Accel Partners.
What does GetJar do?
GetJar is a popular mobile application distribution and developer community.
VCU says:
GetJar is a community for mobile application developers. Users may also download applications from the site. Recently they announced that over 100 million mobile applications have been downloaded from GetJar.
An interesting statistic is out of the 100 million downloads GetJar states there is three times the demand for mobile applications than for games so far in 2007. They also mentioned that in the UK and USA, messaging applications are among the most popular, together with browsers and mobile utilities.
At GetJar users have an active role in product development. The aforementioned 100 million downloads from the site came in just two years, and as of the writing of this article they are currently averaging over 8 million downloads per month, with visitors to the site coming from 135 countries worldwide.
